The Stations of the Cross (With Little Children)

Good Friday is traditionally the day the parish has a service that includes the Stations of the Cross. But if you have small children "introduce" them to the Stations yourself.

Find a quiet time on this day or any day during Lent. We even had one of the Sisters take us around and explain them to the kids in our Catholic homeschool group. You can explain what event each station represents. Say a tiny prayer at each station like, "Dear Jesus, thank you. We love you."

Since these stations or "pictures" which tell the story of the passion and death of Jesus often affect small children deeply, plan to do something together afterward. Take a walk, drive in the country or a stop at the playground. If they want to talk about the experience, answer their questions. If they don't, just let them keep their thoughts to themselves. They may not feel like talking until some time later.
