SHARING OUR FAITH >
WHY ARE WE CATHOLIC ? (A little reminder)

If you are a Roman Catholic, you know that your religion was founded in the year 33 by Jesus Christ , and that it has not changed since that time. (See How Old is Your Church).

The Catholic Church is the sole Church of Christ which our Savior, after His Resurrection, entrusted to Peter's pastoral care, commissioning him and the other apostles to extend and rule it... (816)

The visible bonds of communion with the Catholic Church are:

  • The Profession of Faith received from the Apostles.
  • The common celebration of divine worship, especially of the sacraments.
  • The apostolic succession through the sacrament of Holy Orders, maintaining the fraternal concord of God's family. (815.)

All salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body.
Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it. (846)
